Oregon Battle of the Books at Adams
Oregon Battle of the Books is back for the 2025-2026 school year!
Deadline for registration: October 15, 2025
What is OBOB?
OBOB, sponsored by the Oregon Association of School Libraries, is one part reading challenge and one part trivia competition. It is designed to encourage reading, increase comprehension, broaden interests, and promote academic excellence, cooperative learning and teamwork among students.
Who Can Participate?
3rd, 4th, and 5th grade students of all reading abilities are encouraged to participate. Audio books are available for many titles on the list and help to make this challenge more accessible to any reader. Please note that participation in OBOB is a commitment, as teams will be counting on each member to complete their reading assignments and be available for scheduled battles.

Coaching Resources
OBOB Runs on Volunteers Like You
Each Adams OBOB team will be coached by a community volunteer, such as a parent, guardian, grandparent, or teacher. Coaches will work with their teams to set practice days and times, decide how many books each teammate will need to read, help readers learn about close reading and studying techniques, and advocate on behalf of their team at OBOB Battles. Most importantly, coaches will help foster good sportsmanship between teammates and competitors alike. Volunteer to be a coach when registering your student or send an email with inquiries to: adamselementaryobob@gmail.com
Adams OBOB coaches also have access to a Google Drive of practice materials.
Washington County Cooperative Library Service has videos of OBOB battles and more.
Cedar Mill Library has tons of helpful practice resources that are regularly. Keep checking!
Lake Oswego Public Library has practice questions and a great book trailer.
